Ellie Hodgkiss PGCE (QTS), BA Hons.

Hi I’m Ellie and I’m the Music Coordinator and lead Early Years Music Practitioner for Aldridge, Walsall, Lichfield, Cannock, Four Oaks & Darlaston.

Growing up I was always singing, playing instruments (flute, saxophone, piano, clarinet, recorder, tin whistle… to name a few) and acting on stage. After graduating from University I realised that my passion for Music went hand in hand with my love of teaching, so my PGCE soon followed. Though I started off teaching older children, I soon found working in Early Years the most fulfilling. I went from teaching in Senior school, to Prep school, to primary schools, before discovering I belonged with the little ones.

In addition to teaching, I could be found leading choirs in schools, directing plays and even taking part in teacher performances. I love performing and jump at the chance to be on stage!

After having my little boy Alexander, who is now 3 years old, I left school teaching behind and became a stay-at-home mum for a while. Lockdown was a tough time for many of us, myself included. I felt that I had lost a little part of myself and, despite singing at home, I was desperate to get back to teaching. Kiddibops was the perfect opportunity that has truly brought me back to life. What I love about Kiddibops is that our small team all have a great deal of subject knowledge, teaching experience and passion for what we do. We all work hand in hand to help little ones learn through music-play and support their natural musicality. This, I feel, sets us apart from other music groups. For me, I am most proud of seeing each child grow in confidence, interacting with others, singing, playing and smiling their way through my classes. Spontaneity can always be found in my sessions. It’s fabulous when the little ones showcase their own ideas and I can often be found rolling on the floor or running around with the children and immersing myself as a musical play-partner.

In my spare time I like to read, practise my calligraphy writing, take walks in the countryside, swim and have lots of family time with Alexander and my partner, Craig.

Bramble bunny and I can’t wait to welcome you to our classes for plenty of fun music-play, games and activities.
